Searchlight Welcomes Lee Drutman as Visiting Fellow

Washington, DC – Lee Drutman, political scientist, writer, and cofounder of the organization Fix Our House, is joining the Searchlight Institute as visiting fellow.

Drutman is the author of Breaking the Two-Party Doom Loop: The Case for Multiparty Democracy in America (Oxford University Press, 2020) and The Business of America is Lobbying (Oxford University Press, 2015). He currently serves as a senior fellow in the Political Reform program at New America, co-hosts the podcast Politics in Question, and authors the newsletter Undercurrent Events.

“At a time when the American people feel left behind by our broken political system, Lee is providing both ambitious vision and concrete action to reaffirm our democracy,” said Adam Jentleson, president of Searchlight. “He is one of our nation’s leading thinkers and innovators eager to marry theory with practice. We are excited to partner with him as we advance Searchlight’s mission to generate ideas that will spark a realignment.”

Drutman was raised in Westchester County, New York. He is a graduate of Brown University and received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
