Searchlight Welcomes David Bowen as Senior Fellow
Washington, DC – David Bowen, former health policy director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), is joining the Searchlight Institute as senior fellow for health and health care policy.
While serving under Senator Edward M. Kennedy and Democrats on the Senate HELP Committee, David became one of the lead developers of the Affordable Care Act and went on to lead all health-related oversight activity.
“As a top Senate aide, David helped architect the Affordable Care Act and took charge of national oversight efforts to safeguard public health,” said Adam Jentleson, president of Searchlight. “He’s a true champion for affordable health care — a leader who will chart a new way forward to achieve our shared goal of universal coverage and lower costs. We are grateful to have his expertise here at Searchlight.”
Bowen previously held leadership roles at the Gates Foundation and the health care advocacy organization Malaria No More. He also served as visiting faculty at Harvard Medical School’s Department of Healthcare Policy.
Bowen hails from New Jersey. He is a graduate of Brown University and received his PhD from the University of California, San Francisco.
