The American dream is dimming. Too many American families are caught in a cycle of precarity — the feeling that they are one illness or missed paycheck away from financial ruin and insecurity as the cost of living only gets higher.
Workers no longer feel like they are standing on solid ground. The future should not be a source of anxiety but of hope. We need a plan to build a contributory, expanded, and redistributive social safety net fit for the 21st century.
